Waqar-ul-Hassan

Waqar currently serves as Head of Litigation at Telenor Pakistan, where he oversees the telecom operator's litigation caseload and corporate legal affairs. Before that, he spent five years at HBL Microfinance Bank, rising from Senior Legal Manager to Unit Head Legal, and two years as Legal Manager at U Microfinance Bank, where he built an exclusive practice defending banks before the National Industrial Relations Commission and managed recovery litigation across Pakistan's districts.

His courtroom instincts were formed early, assisting senior counsel including Mr. Ahmer Bilal Soofi on matters before the Supreme Court of Pakistan while at ABS & Co. During that period he also drafted service rules for the Pakistan Hockey Federation and financial rules for the Intellectual Property Organization, and served as Secretary General of the Center for Rule of Law Pakistan, authoring reports on minority rights and human trafficking for Pakistan's National Human Rights Commission.

Waqar's approach to litigation is shaped by having sat on the client's side of the table. He knows what a bank or a telecom operator actually needs from outside counsel: clear risk assessments, realistic timelines, and a strategy built around the business, not just the docket.
